Engineering Open Choice for IMechE (UK) Authors

http://www.pepublishing.com/strong>Professional Engineering Publishing launches new open access service - 23 Jul 2007

Professional Engineering Publishing (PEP), the publishing arm of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), UK, has launched a new open access service, Engineering Open Choice, for the engineering community.

Engineering Open Choice gives authors the option of having their published research made available free to anyone throughout the world, on an open access basis. The service is designed to satisfy the needs of the community - authors, funding bodies, readers - who want research material to be made available on an open access basis. It is available to authors of all papers accepted for publication upon payment of a standard fee.

The service will be available in all journals published by Professional Engineering Publishing, particularly the Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. All articles will be peer-reviewed to the highest standards, professionally produced, and made available both in print and online at http://journals.pepublishing.com. Engineering Open Choice gives authors the option to choose how they want their research to be published.

Advances in Engineering Education -- new open access journal

The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) has launched a new open access journal under the editorship of Larry J. Shuman, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Industrial Engineering, University of Pittsburgh. “A peer-reviewed journal, Advances in Engineering Education, seeks to highlight significant advances in instruction, pedagogy, technology and assessment that substantially improve learning in the broadest sense. The journal will include descriptions of innovative curricula, courses, and teaching practices both within and outside the classroom. Completed and documented studies will be published as full articles.”

“By focusing on educational developments and practice, the new journal complements the Society’s existing engineering education research publication, Journal of Engineering Education.” The latest issues of this title are in the Engineering Library on the second floor with the current periodicals. Request earlier issues from ReCAP.
