Google SketchUp and History

I recently found this article about using Google SketchUp (free) in conjunction with a high school history class in Vermont. Students are learning local history by building 3D models of buildings in  their community using SketchUp. Since they are getting their hands dirty and interacting and creating objects, this is helping the students retain the knowledge and getting involved with the subject.
