The Manuscripts Division holds nearly 11,000 linear feet of manuscripts, archives, and related research materials covering five millennia of recorded history, from the ancient Near East to the present. Princeton has been collecting manuscripts since the late nineteenth century and documents many parts of the world, with emphasis on England and Western Europe, the United States, Latin America, and the Islamic world.
