http://galaxy.psu.edu is the open, web-based ven­ture devel­oped by Penn State and Emory Uni­ver­sity.  It’s com­pat­i­ble with the Python (open source) pro­gram­ming lan­guage.  Mul­ti­ple tuto­ri­als are avail­able for get­ting started manip­u­lat­ing large data sets.  Reg­is­tra­tion is free (also).
