Reading

If anyone is interested in what I'm getting myself into here, find Peter Hessler's book "River Town." It is an amazing story of a peace core volunteer teaching English in the szechuan province. If you get done with that, check out Mark Salzman's "Iron and Silk," courtesy of a recommendation by Mr. Ace Comings... I finally entered the 21st century and got a digital camera so expect some shots of my new home when I get there. It's getting close now--crazy!

p.s.
It's hot and humid like crazy in Boston right now and I keep telling myself I'm just training for China. It is currently 3am in Guangzhou and still 88 degrees. Good lord...

Mandarin

Alright so school is officially over and, masters degree in hand, I have begun the daunting task of learning the mandarin language. Good lord--it is not easy! I had some time to kill driving out to Ann Arbor though and picked up a teach-yourself-mandarin CD collection. After 3 lessons I can officially say "Wo hway shwoh eedyar pu tung hwah" or something like that. Wish me luck...
