Also...

I bought an LG Region 3 external DVD/CD burner drive. It's USB 2.0 so I was worried about speed but so far it has actually outpaced the crappy drive in my laptop at both reading and writing (it writes DVDs at 1.7 MB a second. A second! I'm probably broadcasting just how out of touch I am by being impressed by that).

So I bought a bunch of DVDs. Including, but not limited to:

Korean DVDs: Taegukgi, The Scarlet Letter (I had to see what a Korean contemporary version would look like), DMZ, Wonderful Days, another animated movie with a pig

Other: Minority Report, The Great Dictator, Apollo 13 Special Edition, Kung Fu Hustle, Kill Bill 1 & 2.

That last one was incredible. I watched them both over the weekend and I gotta say I didn't think it was possible for movies to be that much fun. At least, not for me, anymore. I loved every minute.

Ah yes, the DVDs. So nice, so many, and so cheap. I bet it is even better in Korea. I loved the Kill Bills too. But I LOVED Kung Fu Hustle. Brilliant film, I think it should be required viewing. If you were so inspired, I'd love a list of Korean films to watch. We can get a few (not too many, but enough) here, and it would save me from the painful point-and-watch-bad-movie experience.

I will be sure to let you know! I am doing the point-and-buy thing for language practice, so it'll be nice to be able to save someone else the trouble on the way. ;)

Ben!
How are you! I can see from your blog that you have been busy. Anyway, Wendy and I as well as our entire teachings staff is coming up to Seoul for a conference on Monday, October 3rd. We plan on coming friday night. We should meet up (me, you, Wendy, Farook (the other PiAer). At the moment, our only plans are a DMZ tour with some teachers here Saturday (maybe until 5 or so). But other than that, we will be free probably saturday night and sunday during the day. Let me know if you are avaiable and if you want to hang out. If yoiu have a cell phone, you can give it to me (Farook has a cell as well. Wendy and I do not). Anyway, I hope to hear from you soon.

Best,
Leo
