On Holiday
PiA and the Temple of Doom.
Temples, Pagodas, Buddhism, Zen, etc.
Tear... I lost my wallet earlier that day in the temple parking lot. 5 days later, a bus driver would call one of the business cards in my wallet reporting that he had found my wallet and would mail it to that man. That man then contacted the school and told the school that he would deliver my wallet to me when he received it. So to recap: This is the equivalent of a Korean immigrant who lives in Boston losing his wallet with two credit cards and fifty dollars in cash in New Jersey while visiting the Jersey Shore. Meanwhile, a bus driver finds it and realizes that A. This man is a temporary US resident (my wallet held my alien identification card) and B. He lives in Boston. Yet, this Jersey bus driver decides to call a random business card in the wallet in order to track down the Korean immigrant so he can return the wallet to the man. Needless to say, I don't lock my doors at night.
Vice-Principal Schuster, Ms. Molloy, Mr. Ahmed, Ms. Hsiao, Mr. Han and Asia's first observatory.
A life of inner of peace away from worldly vices or ....worldly vices?
Trekking through the enchanted forest.
Even in the confines of a temple, Korea's population of nubile young maidens could not be avoided.

School Pictures
The Two brown buildings are the school. The middle apartment building behind the school is where I live.
Kwangju City
Wendy and I get set to eat our first home-cooked meal. If you are keeping score at home, that's Do-Miao, Tofu+ pork stir-fry and dumplings.
Here are some pictures we took from our first field-trip to the Ginseng Festival:
As we spill off the bus
Mr. Lynn, the social studies teacher, tries to make this trip educational. Moments later, one of the students takes out a vehicle window with a rock.
Some of the kindergarten kids try their hand at harvesting Ginseng.
Clearly the breakdancing in college was not wasted.
Mark, Grade 12, is a ladies man
Chris, Hei-In, Yu Yuen, On Su (Grade 10) and Ginseng Man
Wendy and her 5th graders.
Our bus driver. The outfit is all linen. The shoes are some kind of animal skin. Feel free to use your imagination.
The art teacher took me out to her Buddhist monastery with her son. Afterwards we went to the national tea fields.
And finally, my office, my classroom, my second home.

Welcome
Hi everyone. Welcome to the blog given to me by PiA. I will use this site to keep updates on what I'm doing in Korea and how I'm living. Unless people alert me to the fact that this is actually being read, don't check back too often.
