In Morning Music: Part I, I introduced you to the wonderful world of music at our school. When the new principal took office, he waited a few weeks before changing the music. Just when we had gotten used to the 45 torturous minutes of terrible Chinese pop music, the new principal switched it up on us.Angels died the fateful morning when the new morning song was played. It's probably the worst song I have ever heard. Listen specifically to the bass line, off key singing, and just general ability to make you want to listen to "Sincere Hero" (the old song) on repeat.
The song is about how children and students should behave. The words come from the Di Zi Gui, a well-known classical Chinese text (at least in China). You can read more about the meaning of the above song by clicking on the above link. The song's words come from the book of the same name: 弟子规 (Standards for being a Good Student and Child). This particular version lasts 12 minutes, and a Chinese phrase I learned recently aptly describes the 12 minutes every morning -- 人间地狱 "hell on earth."
