I chose Rodin as my topic as I was perusing through the numerous volumes at Marquand Library and looking for someone or something that would interest me and account for the next 3 months or so of my life. I had thought some topic of a familiar painter would pop into my head, and I would be writing something on Van Gogh, or perhaps Toulouse-Lautrec. However, I fatefully picked out a book on Rodin, and was struck by a work entitled The Burghers of Calais.
Since then, I’ve practically lived at Princeton’s beloved non-circulating library, taking over a carrel of a senior who probably hasn’t even used it yet this year. Of course, I couldn’t find half the books I needed on the shelf, they were AWOL even though their status read: ‘Not Charged.’ Nevertheless, the essay you read on this site took form, and was completed exactly ten minutes before it was due. I hope you’ve enjoyed it.
As for my daily routine…
“I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy, I’ll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing ‘protective’ lotion.” (Bale)
Finally, I enjoy listening to Huey Lewis and the News, Whitney Houston, and, of course, Genesis.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go return some videotapes.
