Violeta-Florica Banica
I was born in Braila, a relatively small town in south-east Romania, situated on the bank of the Danube, where I spent the first 16 years of my life. I received the education of a typical Eastern European, with all the Calvary of having math, physics and computer sciences every day in my schedule. However, I soon realized that the “magic” world of numbers and formulae could not cast its spell on me
I found the magic though, in a small village called Duino, on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, very close to Trieste (Italy), where I graduated from the United World College of the Adriatic, an international school which, apart from providing a great education, aims at promoting international understanding by bringing together students from different cultures. Having liberated myself from the tight handcuffs of sciences, I discovered the warm, embrace of humanities, although I still haven’t figured out which one of the embraces is the warmest. Meanwhile I am enjoying the hot coffee in my hands and I will leave such irrelevant details for later (I still have time until the end of my sophomore year, don’t I?).
