Katy Andersen is a member of the class of 2008 at Princeton University. She enrolled in the Writing Seminar "Impressionism and the Making of Modern Art" having seen all that old stuff in Europe: mountains of Michaelangelos...fading Botticellis...walls and walls of Titians...you know, hours in the Uffizi and miles in the Louvre when you'd rather be hiking the hills of Florence or shopping on Rue St. Honore). Why not study the glorious Van Goghs of Musee D'Orsay or write about paintings of horses and flowers - is this really college? And so, instead of hitting the museums or trails or stores, Katy slaved away for the class to create this website about Henri Matisse and his wild, weird? (never!), and wonderful paintings of women in Collioure and in Morocco.
Katy lives on Broadwater Farm in Pennsylvania with her parents, younger brothers Charlie and Arne, and little sister Ellie. She adores her Fjord Horse Jon, dog Alice, and the wild menagerie who live in various pastures on Broadwater because, according to her parents, "they look cool," including three Peacocks and her mother's Miniature Sicilian Donkey (who we refer to as "Mom's hairy ass"). However, you are all wondering: does Katy have to milk the cows every morning before dawn?? The answer to this question is an emphatic "no!". Wacky animals and fields and ponds and tractors and orchards are just a family passion. Besides sustainable agriculture, her passions include skiing, fly-fishing, and travelling. She was a twelve-letter varsity athlete in high school on the field hockey and indoor/outdoor track teams, and continues to run for Princeton. She believes everyone should recycle to save the Great Outdoors, and her first love is Slow Food.
