About the Program

The Program in Latino Studies offers an inter-disciplinary curriculum that traverses performing arts, humanities and social sciences to provide students with a broad understanding of the emergence, transformation and consolidation of Latinos as a pan-ethnic group, and to appreciate the range of Hispanic imprints on American society and culture. Since its inception in 2009, the program has awarded nine certificates to students majoring in subjects from public policy and anthropology to ecology and evolutionary biology.

In addition to the required gateway course, Latinos in American Life and Culture, concentrators select from an array of courses that satisfy program content requirements and also write a senior thesis that relates to some aspect of the U.S. Hispanic population.
