AAS Journals published with IOP, online only as of 2015

“As the Library Liaison for the American Astronomical Society (AAS), I attended their board meeting last week.

The AAS and IOP Publishing (IOP) have asked though that I announce immediately that all AAS research journals published with IOP will become electronic only and will no longer print paper editions. This transition will take effect with the 2015 subscription year and affects the Astronomical Journal (AJ) and the Astrophysical Journal (ApJ), Astrophysical Journal Letters (ApJL), and Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series (ApJS).

Electronic-only publication will allow for further development of the AAS journals, outside of the constraints of print providing even better service to subscribers, authors and readers.

FlyExpress for Developmental Biology Research

FlyExpress, for Drosophila development study has received a 4-star (excellent) review in the October 15, 2012, issue of Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News,  www.Genengnews.com  (page 62).

www.flyexpress.net has “> 100,000 images depicting expression patterns of > 4000 genes” over time.  There are various ways to search this database, including the spatial search feature based on GEMs, Genome Expression Maps.

American Mathematical Society Books Online [pdf]

"The American Mathematical Society (AMS) was founded in 1888 in order to further mathematical research and scholarship. Since that time, they have embarked on a number of outreach programs designed to educate the public about the importance of various mathematical endeavors. In the past several years, they have been developing the AMS Books Online website, and it’s quite a resource. The works were all originally published by the AMS, and they can be browsed by author or subject. The subject headings include analysis, general interest, logic and foundations, and number theory. Users can download individual chapters from each book, and there are currently over thirty books available on the site. Visitors should make sure and check back, as there are plans to add books to the site periodically."
