Working in partnership with curators and Public Services, the Princeton University Library Rare Books and Special Collections Technical Services unit carries out fundamental processes that provide for the administration and use of special collections by RBSC staff, the university, and the scholarly community at large. These processes include a variety of tasks related to both the intellectual and physical control of new acquisitions and existing holdings, such as creation of finding aids and catalog records; long-term data management and enhancement; and capture and stabilization of born-digital data. Technical Services operates in a context of professional standards. Its staff members continually strive to be at the forefront of advances within their fields and to improve internal processes.
