Prof Lewis was a soft spoken, gentle man with a love for India which during my years at Princeton and the WWS was rare to find. Not surprisingly then he was my top choice for Thesis adviser and I remain ever so grateful for his kindness, guidance and tolerance for my capricious ways. I just dug out the very kind words he wrote (by hand) on my Senior Department Evaluation Sheet after my thesis defense. RIP Prof Lewis.
Loved his course on the economics of less developed nations that he taught with Mark Gersovitz.
