Princeton and the Latin Americas Studies community lost a giant in Paul Sigmund. He was instrumental in mentoring me and several other members of the class of 1966 to continue our studies and interest in Latin America, encouraging us to apply for Fulbrights. He visited me during my Fulbright year in Uruguay, and then again when I was in the US Embassy, Bogota Colombia, some 35 years later. Meeting with him was always the highlight of reunions. He was a lifelong friend.
