I recently came across my Washington University senior thesis (1972), written under Professor Murrin’s guidance, and decided to look him up. He was the finest college professor I had; he inspired me with a love of colonial American history that continues. His lectures were not only informative, but also at times so funny that I could not take notes. A highlight of my dealings with him was being invited to dinner at his residence with his wife Mary. With his grounding in American history, I went on to practice law. My life is better for knowing Professor Murrin. I’m sure others fell the same.
