I was one of Don’s graduate students at Princeton from 1982 to 1987. I have many wonderful memories of working with him in those years. Among the most vivid are of the quiet joy he would take in an interesting result, an intriguing idea. I will remember the slow smile, the twinkle in his eye. He was a man of was a man of high integrity who loved science and passed that on to others. He will be missed, yes, but his legacy and his example are still with us to follow and to strive to model.
