Our hands are tainted as much as BP’s and Exxon’s if we do not impress upon our government to regulate oil drilling and transportation. Most importantly, we need to prompt oil companies to research and develop better methods of cleaning up oil spills for better responses in the case of future oil spills. (If picture is broken above please check out the gif here, it took me some work to make it)

Being from the Gulf Coast area this impacted me and after starting to look into the BP Oil Spill I realized how uninformed I was and how much there was still to learn about the spill. There is so much that occurred that I had not even realized had happened and had only paid attention to some of the main sources such as BP feeding into what they offered rather than forming my own opinions. Similarly in learning more about the Exxon Valdez Spill and finding out how so much was the same in both spills, it was astounding how little has changed in the methods of clean up since then. With the continued struggle over the reliance on oil exemplified through the debate over the Keystone Pipeline, we must act. As a result of this, I was prompted to showcase some of these ideas within my website and hopefully in doing so incite the desire for change, as it did in me.
