Fuck it, Let’s Go Nuts: A Shift Towards Highly Speculative Coverage in the Disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370

Theories Continue to Grow
CNN broadcasts aren’t the only ones to speculate on the cause of the disappearance of MH370.

Here, ABC reporters discuss the (apparently quite plausible!) possibility of an island landing:

Here, a broadcasting team at the Australian 7News proposes that the pilots intentionally engaged in “terrain masking,” or flying at extremely low altitudes, in order to accomplish a “stealth mission”:

Psychics, too, have been appeared on news network broadcasts to help solve the mystery of MH370. In this example, psychic Lisa Williams gives her thoughts on HLN, describing her theory of the hijacking and landing of the plane in an area with lots of trees:

The theory of an alien abduction of the plane has also been given consideration, especially from unaffiliated YouTube users such as Charles Walton, who remarks, “A UFO abduction of this plane — well that might seem kind of bizarre, but it is a possibility,” and also shares that while “about 95% of alien visitors come to protect us,” there were some unfriendly visitors the day MH370 disappeared. Listen to his explanation here:

This alien abduction theory has prompted the creation of several dramatic short films depicting the demise of MH370. One very dramatic example can be observed here:

Elaborate theories involving the US, Chinese, or Malaysian governments, too, have been proposed. In the following example, broadcasters of “Western Journalism” discuss with certainty the actions of the US government in conjunction with corporations such as The Carlyle Group and Freescale Semiconductor. The NSA and Edward Snowden even make a miraculous appearance:
